Miller Foundation Grants $1.6 Million to Local Nonprofits

(Long Beach, CA)  The Earl B. and Loraine H. Miller Foundation board unanimously approved funding for over 50 local nonprofits serving children and youth in Long Beach.  In total, 54 grants and $1,641,000 have been awarded to organizations focused on health, education, the arts, or a combination of two or more of these program areas.

“As a result of listening sessions with over thirty local organizations last summer, we shifted our focus within the program areas to specific and relevant issues, such as youth mental health, school safety and learning delays that have been compounded after COVID, while still addressing support for our established goals of increasing access to services for children and youth from under-resourced areas of Long Beach,'” said Darick J. Simpson, president of the foundation.  “We continue to build collaborations, provide resources and assist nonprofits in any way possible, regardless of whether they are a grantee or are a nonprofit new to The Miller Foundation.  We’re here to make sure that kids in need can connect to needed programs, and we will do whatever we can to make this happen.”

Disbursements of funding were released to awarded nonprofits early in July 2024.  View this year’s list of grantees at www.eandlmillerfdn.com/2024-grantees.
