The Heritage of The Miller Foundation

Since its inception in 1967, The Earl B. and Loraine H. Miller Foundation has committed over 75 million dollars to over 125 Long Beach organizations to support and nurture the children of our community.

Earl and Loraine Miller’s love for the children of Long Beach prompted them to establish the Earl B. and Loraine H. Miller Foundation. Loraine’s first project was to fund the building of Miller Children’s Hospital.

They further committed to the well-being of children by actively supporting and generously funding The Children’s Dental Health Clinic, The Children’s Clinic, The Guidance Center, The Assistance League of Long Beach and The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden. Along with Miller Children’s Hospital, The Miller Foundation remains committed to the continued support of these Heritage Organizations.

Earl and Loraine Miller Foundation | Long Beach

From the beginning, The Foundation has maintained its focus on serving children within the greater Long Beach community. As the Foundation approached the new millennium, the Board of Trustees conducted a needs assessment for those children.

As a result, the Board of Trustees adopted the concept of treating the whole child, as defined by The World Health Organization. This concept was integrated into the Foundation’s Strategic Plan and continues to inform our funding decisions.

The Board of Trustees is committed to honoring the important legacy of Earl and Loraine Miller.

“Health is a state of complete and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
